Cordless window covering
Blinds, shades or curtains built without exposed pull cords, removing a strangulation hazard from the room.
Cordless window coverings are blinds or shades designed without the hanging pull cords or looped cords found on older styles, operated instead by lifting the shade directly, using a spring mechanism, or a wand. The design removes a specific hazard at the source: a looped or dangling cord within reach of a crib or a climbing child.
This matters specifically in a nursery because cribs and other furniture are often placed near windows, putting cords within reach as a baby grows into a toddler who can stand and pull. Retrofitting is possible with cord-shortening cleats or cord wind-up devices on existing blinds, but a cordless product removes the hazard at the source rather than managing it after the fact.
A common mistake is treating cord safety as solved by keeping cords tied up out of reach today, without accounting for how quickly a baby becomes a climbing toddler who can reach higher each month. When buying any new window covering for a nursery or child's room, cordless is the simpler default rather than a cord style with an add-on safety device.
