RoomMates RMK2038GM Rock-A-Bye Bird Branch Peel and Stick Giant Wall Decals, Decorative Wall Appliques Review (2026)

Who this giant wall decal is for

This decal suits parents who want a single dramatic focal point on one nursery wall, such as the space directly behind a crib or above a glider chair, rather than a scattering of smaller decorative pieces across the room. Because the bird branch design leans toward a calm, nature inspired look rather than bright cartoon characters, it fits a gender neutral, softer nursery palette better than a bold primary color scheme. Parents who want to finish decorating a feature wall quickly, without the extended layout planning that a multi piece alphabet or scene set requires, will appreciate having essentially one large composition to apply rather than dozens of individual pieces. It also suits renters, since peel and stick decals avoid the commitment of painting a mural or hanging wallpaper on a wall that eventually needs to return to its original condition.

Scale and what comes in the set

Listings for this RoomMates decal describe individual pieces ranging from small accents around 3 by 2.6 inches up to a large branch piece as big as roughly 51.8 by 33.3 inches, meaning the set combines a handful of bigger elements with smaller supporting pieces rather than one uniform size repeated many times. That range is typical of RoomMates giant wall decal sets, which usually pair one or two oversized focal pieces, such as the main branch, with smaller birds or leaf details that fill out the composition once arranged on the wall. Because the largest piece approaches four and a half feet across, the decal needs a genuinely open wall section to display without being cropped by furniture, doorways or windows nearby. As with other RoomMates lines, the vinyl material is designed to be removable rather than a permanent wall treatment.

Applying and living with it

Because the composition relies on a few large pieces rather than many small identical ones, most of the application time goes into carefully positioning the biggest branch piece first, then layering smaller bird and leaf accents around it, ideally with a second set of hands to hold a large sheet steady while smoothing out air bubbles. Peel and stick decals of this size are more prone to wrinkles or trapped air if applied too quickly, so working slowly from one edge outward, smoothing as you go, tends to give a cleaner result than trying to lay the whole sheet down at once. Once applied to a clean, fully cured painted wall, the decal should hold up to normal nursery humidity from nearby baths, though very sunny walls may fade the print over months. When it is time to redecorate, removable vinyl decals like this one are designed to come away from painted surfaces without pulling paint, though very fresh paint benefits from extra time to cure first.

Trade offs and how it compares with other nursery decals

Compared with the RoomMates Animal Alphabet set, which spreads 107 smaller pieces across a wider area for a busier, more educational feel, this bird branch decal commits to a single calmer scene that finishes faster but covers less overall wall territory. Against a sibling giant decal like the RoomMates Kids Tree design, the bird branch composition leans more delicate and nature focused, while the tree decal reads as a bolder, more graphic silhouette, so the choice comes down to which mood fits the nursery better. A hand painted mural offers more customization than any decal, but at a real cost in time, paint and the difficulty of changing it later, which is exactly the flexibility a removable decal is meant to solve. Parents without one large open wall section may find the composition harder to display well than a smaller, more modular decal set.

Verdict and who might prefer a different decal

For parents who want one calm, nature themed feature wall finished quickly rather than a multi piece project, this decal backs up its our score of 8.2 out of 10 with an appealing, gender neutral design that suits a crib or glider wall well. Choose it if you have a wide, clear wall section and prefer a single striking composition over scattering smaller pieces. Parents without that much open wall space, or who want a busier, more playful look, may prefer a smaller scale decal set like the Animal Alphabet collection or a different giant decal design such as the Kids Tree.
