# Best Crib Mattress Protectors for Leak-Proof Nights (2026) Source: https://nurserysetupnest.com/best/mattress-protectors Updated: 2026-09-15 Publisher: Nursery Setup Nest. Our score is an editorial rating out of 10 (fit 35%, features 25%, build 20%, value 20%), not a customer rating. Method: https://nurserysetupnest.com/how-we-research#our-score A mattress protector guards against the inevitable leaks and spills, and a safe one fits like a second skin. Look for a fitted style that stays taut and does not bunch, a fully waterproof yet breathable layer, and soft, quiet fabric that will not crinkle loudly with every movement. The protector should sit smoothly under the fitted sheet without adding loose material or slack that could pose a risk in the sleep space. Mattress protectors suit every crib and are worth buying in pairs, so a clean one is ready during midnight changes. They also help extend the life of your mattress. A practical tip is to layer a fitted protector under a fitted sheet only, keeping the surface firm and flat, avoid loose waterproof pads laid on top of the sheet, and choose a machine-washable, dryer-safe model since you will be laundering it often. ## Picks ### 1.
